Flax. In Progress.

I am sorry for the silence these past days - we had a huge thunderstorm which cut off the Internet for several days. But as a bonus I finally got some time to work on Flax properly. On Friday evening I finished 1.5" neckline :) I don't know why I was making such a slow progress on it, the pattern is very clear and it seems like I finally got the proper gauge on 3.5 mm instead of 5 mm - my usual story. So the only thing left is to dive into relaxing stockinette stitch knitting. But somehow life has kept me away from this project. Maybe because it's black and I can't really enjoy the stitch definition. Anyway, on Saturday morning my 1.5" progress was looking at me from the corner with a sad reproach. I picked it up and couldn't put it down! It seemed like it started to knit on its own.hand knit sweaterThis is the first time I am knitting a top down raglan sweater and each step is interesting and intriguing. It's like walking on the familiar street from the opposite end - everything looks kind of the same, but from a different angle. It turned out to be a perfect on-the-go project. It went with me to a pool club (my husband loves pool just like I love knitting) - you can only imagine the looks that I got from people in the club :) Then it "walked" with me downtown to the main square to enjoy an ice cream and a view of a magnificent church, walked all the way across the town to the main park where a perfect bench surrounded by beautiful flowers was found and there we stayed for two blissful hours saying goodbye to the last rays of sunshine... And next day it drove all the way to the nearby town and spent 5 (!) hours in a government office where we were fixing the medical insurance papers. After all this it grew significantly.Hand knit sweaterIt looks suspiciously small on the needles, but the gauge seems to be the same, so I think it's because it's pulled in too much with the circular needles.  The sleeves are separated and so far it's just a stockinette stitch marathon going on. I really love the garter stitch panel on the shoulders. I think it's a perfect detail for a man's sweater - simple enough, but still adds an interesting touch to the stockinette background.Hand knit sweater

So, Flax is growing now with a steady pace.
