The Gift of Knitting - Reindeer From the Woods.
Happy Sunday! I finally got the time to shoot some photos for my finished Reindeer! The days stay sunny, crisp, windy and chilly - perfect sweater weather. As you can see this Reindeer is slightly shorter than the original, 2" approximately. I decided to cut the length a little bit, because I know that cotton will grow slightly over time. It's been 8-9 months since I finished St. Brigid and it grew 1/2 - 1", I like its length this way even more, but in this cardigan I decided to play safe and save some yarn, as my stash yarn was just right for this length.
I was really inspired by Johanna's Reindeer and played with sleeve length a little bit. 3/4 sleeves and the cotton yarn make this cardi a perfect companion for summer dresses during chilly evenings!
The bands are much more narrow, again for the same purpose - to make a more light version of the autumn/winter cardigan. I really love open cardigans, even if I have buttons I never close them! I think it's such a versatile piece of wardrobe!
This time I used three-needle bind off instead of seaming the shoulders. I decided to experiment and see what difference it makes. Usually they say seams "hold" the garment better than three-needle bind off, I'll see what happens to both Reindeer over the time to draw my own conclusions.
Overall it was a great knitting journey for me! This project gave me the opportunity to look at the pattern from the point of a view of a knitter, it traveled with me to a beautiful forest that became engraved in my heart and memory and it gave me so many hours of joy! I am so infinitely grateful for one more gift of knitting!
Thank you for all your sweet and always kind comments and your constant support during this project. One more knitting chapter is over, off to the next one :)
