Test Knitting
Does it happen when you diligently work on your projects, making a progress step-by-step on each of them, but a couple of new projects come along and you just can't resist casting them on and before you realize you finish these newbies faster than all your carefully planned and scheduled WIPs? Well, that's my case right now. My St. Brigid and crochet lace project (I should at least give it a proper name already!) are looking at me with reproach from the corner while I am casting off my skirt and working on a new exciting project.Lovely Julie, from Knitted Bliss, asked me to test knit her new upcoming cowl design - Hyperballad. I find it absolutely delicious - such a rich texture of the background stitch and knotty cables in the middle. I already know who will put it on!
I take the first test knit in my life very seriously! I know how much time and effort goes into writing the pattern, so I am happy to help as much as I can. I try to take careful notes and read recommendations from experienced test knitters, Andi's post came just in time!I am trying it in a different yarn, local Mexican cotton - Otoño (autumn in Spanish). You know me, I love plant fibers. I've made numerous cable projects in cotton yarn and they hold the shape perfectly! Plus in our part of the world, there are very few weeks when you have to wrap yourself in wool (sigh...), hence the cotton :) Julie's original cowl is made in similar shade and I loved it so much that decided not to change it.
As a very loose knitter, I never skip a swatch part. As usual, going down with needles size...
