Friday Inspiration. A la Russe.
Today I am admiring A la Russe collection (fall 2013) by Anastasia Romantsova.
This collection was inspired by Orenburg Shawl, which is one of the most famous symbols of Russia. Orenburg Shawl is a lace shawl knit with a very fine yarn. They are very similar to Shetland Lace Shawls. The handknit Orenburg Shawl can take almost a year to make. These shawls are famous for their very intricate patterns, lightness and ability to preserve the warmth. I loved Anastasia's interpretation of this handcraft in her collection of airy, almost fairy like dresses.
The main character of the collection is a fairy aristocratic lady. It reminds me of 19th century Russia and one of my favorite books by Leo Tolstoy - "War and Peace".
Crochet also found its place in the collection.
My favorite look is a lace sweater with a long light airy floral skirt.
Tomorrow I have my a little bit more special than usual day...
I hope you'll have a great crafty weekend!
