Crochet Dress. Details.
This project was such an indulgence for me. I started it in spring. I tried different stitch combinations before coming up with the final stitch pattern. I made a swatch, put it on my night table and waited for a couple of months. I really wanted this project to work out, so I didn't want to rush. As it sometimes happens you come up with the idea, get excited, put it in action and the result disappoints you. So, I didn't want to take chances and decided to wait and watch the swatch for several weeks to make sure that this is exactly the way I want my dress to be.Then my summer vacations came and I went to visit my family and places of my childhood in Russia. You can read more about my trip here and here.I spent two blissful weeks in the countryside with my grandparents. This place is so dear to me - as a child I used to spend all my summers there. It was a perfect place and time to start crocheting my dress. It was being made outside under apple trees on my Grandpa's hand carved bench...
The dress is above the knee length...
...with minimum shaping involved. The waist shaping was achieved by changing the hook size from 2.5 mm to 1.5 mm.
It features round neckline...
... which is trimmed with single crochet.
The armhole openings are also trimmed with single crochet stitch.
It was put together by crochet slip stitch. Here you can see the shoulder seam.
I finished this dress here, in Mexico, but for me it still carries a smell of northern wildflowers...
... fresh berries...
... and my Granny's pancakes...
