What I love most about this space is how connected you start feeling to people that you've never even met in real life. I feel so grateful for finding new friends, to share my pieces of life, craft and joy with you!

Pat has always been such a great supporter of me and I am so thankful for meeting her here! Awhile ago Pat and I decided to do a yarn swap. I sent her some 100% cotton yarn made in Mexico and she got me local alpaca yarn. It was the first swap for me and I was happy as a child when I received my package. First of all, it was an amazing feeling to get something from a person who shares your passion and has been so supportive through the whole blogging journey! Second of all, the yarn is gorgeous - 100% baby alpaca in beautiful pearl grey color from the farm. The skein is ridiculously soft - I want to wrap my whole body in it!! I was saving it for something special, but simple. I have some yarn left from Reindeer cardigan and they happen to look and feel so good together!

So, I got an idea to mix both of these beauties in one project. The spring is definitely in the air in my corner of the world, but mornings are still pretty chilly, so I need something warm and chunky for my early morning walks with the dog. I wanted to make a big chunky oversize cowl that would be a great zen knitting project. Two stitches came to mind - seed and moss stitch.

After looking at both of them for a couple of days I picked the good old seed stitch. Beautiful texture, very easy to knit and merino/silk is just perfect for it. I am holding two strands together of DK weight yarn to get a very chunky look at the end.

The idea of the cowl is simple - just knit in the round until I run out of yarn. I am thinking of making it long enough to double wrap around my neck for extra coziness. One strand of 100% baby alpaca will be added to one strand of merino/silk at the end to create a slight gradient effect. This is another reason why I chose seed over moss stitch - gradient looks amazing in seed!

It was supposed to be a side project for quiet evenings when I am just too tired to knit anything more elaborate. But I really got into it and my Chunky Seed Stitch cowl grew significantly already - I won't be surprised if I finish it by the end of this week. The cowl is growing huge and is so soft that I want to wrap myself in it right now!

Reading. I picked up a book from our book shelve that I've been curious about for a long time - "Code, The Hidden Language of Computer Hardware and Software". I don't know why on earth I need to read it, but the description is very promising and I am curious to find out more!
